The Magus of Nastrand is a remarkable tale. Slade Chandler's chronicle of a man's journey from importance, wealth, and love to obscurity, extreme poverty to betrayal leading to his insanity... Chandler's ability to weave a serpentine path between fantasy and insanity, without distinction between the two conditions, is remarkable and draws the reader into this mysterious and captivating story completely... Stephen M. Day "good book lover" | I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and now I am buying it for my friends as well. The book is loosely based on Norse mythology. It has great characters, beauty, solid plot, and it is a joy to read. If you pick it up, you won't put it down. I highly recommend this book to all fantasy fans! More Reviews |

In Norse Mythology, the War of Ragnarok was the doom of the gods, only that was a trick on man's perception. It was Odin's plan to let mankind live without the influence of gods, a necessity for human development. But after centuries of secrecy, the gods revealed themselves to a homeless man, Hatteris. His task was to rescue the goddess, Sif, from the evil clutches of the Mayor of Nastrand. Nastrand, a town of unsurpassed beauty, also housed the gateway to the Nordic Hel. With questionable sanity, Hatteris journeyed through Hel, saved more than one world, and by the deception of the trickster god, Loki, fathered a demigod named Thor.
The Magus of Nastrand is my first novel. I have published a short story version of this on-line in 2002 and have published a short story called White Fences in a college publication in 1994.
